Junior Boxing Classes in Grande Prairie | Champion Junior Boxing Ages 6-11

Junior Boxing at Champion Gym teaches boxing to children ages 6 to 11 in Grande Prairie. Jab, cross, hook, uppercut — plus footwork, head movement, defensive technique, and how to think clearly under pressure. Coaches Alex, Jon, and Colt run a structured program that builds technical skill and the mental qualities that outlast it.

Parents consistently report that the changes they see in their children go beyond the gym: better focus, improved confidence, and a different relationship with difficulty. This is not accidental — it is what good boxing coaching produces.

What Kids Learn

Ranked Progression

Junior Boxing uses a shirt colour ranking system. As students develop their skills and demonstrate competency at each level, they earn their next rank. Each shirt colour represents genuine accumulated skill — a visible record of the work they’ve put in. This gives training clear purpose and makes progress tangible for kids and parents alike.

The Coaches

Coach Alex, Coach Jon, and Coach Colt lead Junior Boxing with a focus on individual development — understanding what each child needs and building from there. All coaches hold Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Checks.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there sparring in the kids program?

Not in the first sessions — and never without appropriate readiness, protective gear, and coach supervision. Most junior students focus on bag work, pad work, and drills. Controlled sparring is introduced progressively for students who are ready and interested.

What equipment does my child need?

Nothing for the first class — loaner gloves are available. Once enrolled, hand wraps and boxing gloves are the primary equipment. We can advise on what to get and when.
